About Auckland Transport
Auckland Transport (AT) is the council-controlled organisation that plans, manages, and operates most public transport and local transport services across the Auckland region in New Zealand. AT oversees bus, train, and many ferry services, as well as parking facilities, park & ride sites, cycling infrastructure, and parts of the road network. Most everyday public transport payments are made using the AT HOP smartcard system, which lets customers load credit, buy passes, and receive discounted fares compared with cash. Official information, timetables, and account management are available through at.govt.nz and the AT Mobile app.
A charge from “Auckland Transport”, “AT HOP”, or “AT Park” on your bank or card statement typically relates to public transport fares, AT HOP card top-ups or auto top-ups, parking payments, or parking infringements within Auckland. You may see one-off payments for a single online top-up or parking session, as well as repeated amounts if you’ve enabled AT HOP auto top-up or use the AT Park parking app frequently. Some users may also see small temporary authorisation amounts when adding or updating a card in their AT HOP or AT Park account, or when a card is used to pre-authorise a parking session before the final fee is calculated. Infrequently, you might see charges for replacement AT HOP cards, purchasing a new card online, or paying administrative fees related to infringements.
To verify a charge, first log into your AT HOP or AT Park account using the email or phone number you commonly use with Auckland Transport and review recent transactions, top-ups, and parking sessions. Check your email for receipts from no-reply@at.govt.nz or similar AT billing addresses, and compare dates and amounts with your bank statement. If you still don’t recognise the charge, contact Auckland Transport via at.govt.nz (search “Contact us”), call the AT Contact Centre, or visit an AT Customer Service Centre with your card and statement details. You can query unknown transactions, request balance or transaction histories, dispute possible errors, and ask about refunds or reversals where eligible; if card fraud is suspected, also contact your bank immediately to block or replace your card.
